Hi! I’m Brita.

Here are some things you might want to know about me:

I’m disciplined, hardworking, and organized, but the trait I value most highly in myself and others is integrity.

The most important lesson of my adult life: preparation is everything.

I’ve had a varied career in the service of things I'm passionate about. I began my working life in the book trade and worked in bookstores for more than 12 years. I’ve helped establish an art gallery; I’ve run the office for the Australian Graphic Design Association; worked as a Sales Manager for Australia’s premier art and design book distributor, Books at Manic; looked after communications for a women’s museum start-up, managed design for a management consultancy and written an abundance of case studies for the financial industry (admittedly, not a passion but translating realtime change and adaptation into meaningful content that people use most certainly is).

In 2022, after running communications in-house and working as a freelancer ‘on the side’ for more than 15 years, I decided to pursue my dream of full-time freelance writing. To this role, I bring significant B2B management and content strategy experience.

I’m excited about psychology, particularly ecopsychology, music, sustainability and research.  

I have a First-class Honours Degree in Anthropology and a Professional Writing and Editing Diploma from RMIT.

I could talk to you about mindset, resilience and behaviour change all day.

I was born and grew up on a farm on windswept Flinders Island in Bass Strait. I went to boarding school.

I’m a highly sensitive person. For many years, I regarded this as a major flaw, but I’ve come to understand it as a blessing. It means I have a more responsive nervous system, heightened awareness of subtle changes and a deeper way of processing information—all of which are writing superpowers.

My special talent is remembering book titles and authors.

I’m only moderately ambitious, but I do want to save the world one discrete, well-written, captivating sentence at a time.
